DMC Production, the rapidly expanding pan‑European media production company specializing in modern remote production, today announces the successful acquisition of two of Germany’s leading production companies: Plazamedia GmbH and RT1.TV mobile.production GmbH. This strategic move marks DMC’s official entry into the German-speaking market under the new brand DMC Production Germany.
About the Acquisitions
• Plazamedia, a Sport1 Medien GmbH subsidiary based in Ismaning near Munich, is a full-service content provider with nearly 50 years’ industry leadership. Known for premium live-sport production, comprehensive media-management and its IP-based brodcast center for clients.
• RT1.TV mobile.production, part of the rt1.media group, operates six OB vans and two SNG trucks across Germany. It delivers high-end arena live productions—from football and horse racing to entertainment productions.
Post-acquisition, both firms will be merged and relaunched as DMC Production Germany, offering cutting-edge capabilities in live arena production, master control (MCR), playout, studio, post-production, storage, satellite newsgathering, streaming and IP distribution.
Leadership and Continuity
Sport1 Medien AG has sold its stake in Plazamedia to DMC. Plazamedia’s current Managing Director, Jens Friedrichs, will continue to lead the business.
Augsburger Zeitung has similarly transferred RT1.TV mobile.production to DMC; Holger Ensslin steps in as the MD of RT1 and undertakes the role to structure and execute the merge of the companies. He will also take on the overall responsibility of DMC Production Germany. This ensures operational continuity and deep client relationships throughout integration.
