DMC has developed a production setup utilizing AI algorithms integrated with PTZ cameras for football broadcasting at Intility Arena in Oslo. Along with Studio Automated DMC has a long-term vision of offering AI multi-camera systems to our clients.

On Sunday, November 2, TV 2 Norway approved the broadcast of a mixed AI and operator-controlled camera setup during the match between Vålerenga and Lillestrøm in Norway’s top women’s division, Toppserien, on TV 2 Sport 1, a linear sports channel.
DMC deployed AI-driven PTZ cameras at key positions, including both high behind-goal angles and offside views, demonstrating the potential of AI technology in live sports production.
Cost-effective production models depend not only on AI-driven cameras but also on reducing personnel in the PCR. To accomplish this, DMC has selected Simply Live for these types of productions. This setup minimizes PCR staffing to a single director who manages switching, audio, and controls an automated, real-time, data-driven graphics system. The director also handles slow-motion, creates highlights, and directs the broadcast. Our long-term goal is to develop a cloud-based PCR solution, and we have initiated a project to identify the optimal solution tailored specifically for our AI multi-camera PTZ productions.
Currently, shading is still performed manually, but the long-term goal is to automate a large portion of the shading process as well.
DMC’s clients are cost-conscious and seek to enhance Tier 2 production quality at an affordable price. TV 2 CFO Jostein Viksøyr stated, “Our goal is to explore what AI can offer TV 2, and we are continuously looking for cost-effective technology and solutions that can enhance production quality.”
